Everyone here was so sweet and so helpful. I had a lot of questions and they patiently answered all of them. They gave me a lot of tips, let me see and even meet a couple dogs, and helped me adopt my dog Bruce, who is so wonderful, I absolutely love him. It was so clear that their primary concern was to find safe, forever homes for the animals there. They have an incredibly simple application and after that Faren helped work with us so that we could take Bruce home that day. I honestly can’t say enough good things, I am just so appreciative of the kindness and care everyone here showed.

Well, the animal tech was very helpful and friendly. The receptionist was not so much. The kind of help like she is owed for working there. My biggest problem is that I was shopping at Tower Square Publix when 2 pretty young pups darted to the parking lot from Archer rd. I picked them up to keep them safe, and brought them to the shelter and was basically told at first that I would have to take them back. Lol This is a no kill shelter. This is a problem with a no kill shelter. The No kill shelter policy doesn’t care if dogs are getting into people’s garbage or being a nuisance. The No kill shelter doesn’t care if a dog gets hit by a car or hurt by mean people, or if a dog is left to starve alone in the freezing elements. I was told from now on, if I saw a dog to leave it even if it was in traffic. That is a disservice to the community it is supposed to be providing services for and in the long run for the animal.

Sara has been wonderful and really cares about the dogs and volunteers. My daughters high school group wanted to volunteer and was turned away from every other rescue but we were welcomed here. It is very clean for a shelter and the dogs have great information on their cages. We are very excited to volunteer and walk dogs.

Adopted a dog here with my wife. We had a great experience, Faren and the staff were extremely kind and helpful in getting us a dog that is the perfect match for us and our lifestyle. It was clear that that their priority was getting their animals into homes that are going to be permanent and safe as they do have you fill out a simple application before seeing any dogs or cats. We also had many questions that the staff quickly answered. Great experience overall, if you're looking for a dog or cat this is the place to checkout first.

In a few short words- abusive, liars, take advantage of people's situations and take zero accountability for their vile behaviors. I have attempted multiple times to address their animal abuse and not one person responds or answers the phone. So I will be reaching out to law enforcement to have my dog returned to me if this cannot be settled with the shelter. Because they lied to me- had me adopt a severely sick dog that they said was healthy then forced me to surrender him when I went to the hospital and now they've let another family adopt him. NOT. ACCEPTABLE. This will be taken care of and I will get my dog back either though this shelter or through court. Edit: I forgot to add that the desk staff on the day they forced me to surrender my dog were extremely rude. They completely ignored that my dog had been name trained and adapted to the name I gave him and they started calling him the original name they had him listed as which they told me, at time of adoption, he didn't know or respond to. Why go back to calling him a name he doesn't know instead of calling him the name heknows? Because it was a power trip. Shortly after, they changed his name again to a completely new name. I hope that they actually attended to his medical care like they DIDNT do before I adopted him.

BE WARNED My wife and I found the sweetest 8 month old cat at our apartment complex. After talking to our neighbors and making sure she didn't have any owner, we took her to the shelter hoping they would care for her and find her a forever home. We would have happily adopted her but we're going to leave the country soon. We took her there and filed the papers they gave us, stating that if they were to return her WE WOULD HAVE PICKED HER UP. And offered to foster her. We went back to the shelter to check on her and they told us she got an upper respiratory infection and she was getting medicated for it. They said to check after a week. We call to check after a week and they tell us they had returned her 3 days ago to where she was found, after she got spayed. They don't know if they left her back at the apartment complex address or in the "nearest patch of grass within 1 mile radius". She was left back outside, with a fresh wound from surgery and no time to recover. Does it sound right for them to abandon a cat, fresh out of surgery in the rough Florida weather, in some unknown spot outside? She would have been better off if we never brought her there and that's a mistake we will never make again. We are trying to find her now before she gets an infection from her wound or bites the stitches off and reopens the incision. UPDATE 1/29/23 After 8 months of keeping our eyes out for her, leaving food out, and occasional walks around the neighborhood, we never saw Pearl again.
